Woman Forgets Priceless Artwork On A Flight, Then A Stranger Came To Her Rescue

A California-based artist has shared a beautiful story of how a stranger's kindness helped her get back priceless artwork that she lost on a Copenhagen-bound flight. The artist, a woman named Alyse Dietel, was left miserable after she left a cardboard tube in the overhead bin that contained valuable sketches she made during her two-month stay in Iceland. She immediately contacted the airlines for help but to no avail.

Desperate to get them back, the 29-year-old artist posted an appeal about her lost artwork on Instagram. She said an airline employee named Irek Michal saw her post and offered to help. Commenting on her post, Mr. Michal promised her that he will check the lost and found section of the airline.

Miraculously, he ended up finding the lost drawings and shipped them to Ms. Dietel. What's more noteworthy is that he even refused the money she offered to pay for the shipping charges. Instead, he asked her to donate the shipping amount to a charity. As a sign of gratitude, she sent him homemade goodies and several stickers.

In an Instagram video, Ms. Dietel recounted the wholesome experience, thanking the airport employee for his kindness. She captioned the video, '' A feel-good Internet story for y'all! Thank you SO much to everyone who contributed to this happy ending by commenting, liking and sharing my post and story about it! You're the reason the algorithm showed my plea to the right person, go team!  HUGE shoutout to @irek_michal for finding and shipping my tube, talk about an everyday hero!!''

Internet users loved the heartwarming gesture and many also shared similar incidents of strangers helping them.

One user wrote, ''What a beautiful story! Kudos to @irek_michal for showing up for another human being in this way. '' Another commented, '' Maybe we aren't all complete strangers in the grand scheme of things after all.''

A third added, ''I once dropped my wallet in a cab. I was bartending at the time and it was full of cash. Some other passenger found my number in the wallet and called me. He wouldn't take anything in return. Humans can be so generous and kind.''

KFC Cannot Claim Exclusive Right Over Use Of Word 'Chicken': High Court

Multinational fast food restaurant chain KFC cannot claim any exclusive rights in relation to the use of the word "chicken", the Delhi High Court has said.

The court's observation came on appeal by Kentucky Fried Chicken International Holdings LLC against the refusal by the Senior Examiner of Trademarks to register "Chicken Zinger" as its trade mark.

While setting aside the order, the court directed the Trademark Registry to proceed with the advertisement in relation to registration application for the mark "Chicken Zinger" within three months and decide any opposition to the registration.

"It is clarified that Appellant shall not have any exclusive rights in the word "Chicken". Trademarks Registry shall reflect this disclaimer at the time of advertisement of subject mark and also if subject mark ultimately proceeds for registration," said Justice Sanjeev Narula in a recent order. The court observed that the mark in question consisted of two words-- "Chicken" and "Zinger" and their use together "does not draw an instant connection".

"The dictionary meaning of 'Zinger' is 'a thing outstandingly good of its kind' or 'a wisecrack; punch line' or 'a surprise question; an unexpected turn of events'. Use of 'Zinger' in conjunction with 'Chicken' does not draw an instant connection with the kind of goods/ services and may at best, be considered suggestive," noted the court.

The court further observed that KFC nonetheless holds registration of the word marks 'Zinger' and 'Paneer Zinger' and the rejection of registration for 'Chicken Zinger' seemed to be based on the use of the word "Chicken', over which, the restaurant chain cannot have any exclusivity and no such claim was also being asserted.

71 Demolition Drives Conducted In South Delhi In 2023 So Far: Civic Body

Civic authorities have carried out 71 demolition drives against "unauthorised properties" in south Delhi this year so far, officials said on Wednesday.

The Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) has also carried out 41 sealing actions in the same time period, they said.

In a statement, the MCD's South Zone said it has conducted a demolition and sealing drive against "unauthorized constructions" in different areas of South Delhi.

"Seventy-one demolition and 41 sealing actions have been taken against unauthorized constructed properties in Said-ul-Azaib, Khirki Extension, Panchsheel Vihar, Chhattarpur, Freedom Fighter Enclave, Panchsheel Vihar, Greater Kailash-1, Greater Kailash-2,Neb Sarai, Malviya Nagar, Mehrauli etc. this year," the statement said.

The field staff of the Building Department of South Zone has been exclusively focused in taking demolition and sealing action against unauthorised construction, it said, adding that the areas were regularly inspected and unauthorised construction by unscrupulous builders were identified.

"These unscrupulous builders carried out unauthorised construction in blatant violations of various laws and luring general public into buying cheaper flats with extra ground coverage.

"Massive demolition actions have been taken by the department with a view to discouraging the unauthorized construction activities by unscrupulous builders," the MCD said in the statement.

The MCD said on some occasions, there was stiff resistance from local residents who tried to create a ruckus and hindrances to thwart the demolition staff from taking actions, but the drive was carried out successfully.

The MCD said it will further intensify the demolition drive.

"The drive is aimed at bringing constructions in properties within the parameters of Master Plan-2021 and Unified Building Bye-Laws-2016, which contain the notified regulations applicable for construction activities in the Capital," the statement read.

"These demolition and sealing actions are strong messages against unscrupulous builders to abide by the provisions of DMC Act, 1957, Master Plan-2021 and Unified Building Bye-Laws-2016.

"With these actions, the department will keep persevering in taking such punitive actions with the sole motive to bring the construction activities within the ambit aforesaid Statutes," it added.
