"Will Go To Over 45,000 Villages": KCR Announces Maharashtra Plan
Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao on Friday announced a month-long programme to expand his Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) party's network in over 45,000 villages in urban civic bodies in Maharashtra.
Rao made the announcement while addressing the party cadres' training programme in Nanded, where he asserted that the efforts taken by his party workers during this 30-day exercise may change the politics of Maharashtra.
This was his fourth rally in Maharashtra in four months - of which three were held in Nanded district alone. His first rally was held in February this year.
"We will go to over 45,000 villages in Maharashtra and in 5,000 municipal wards in civic bodies," Rao said at the training programme attended by party representatives from across 288 Assembly constituencies in Maharashtra.
He asked party workers to form nine committees at each place, comprising farmers, youth, women, backward classes, tribals, minorities, students and workers.
"From May 22 to June 22, go to five villages in a day. Spend two hours in each village. The efforts taken in these 30 days will change the politics of Maharashtra," Rao told BRS workers.

He asked the party workers to eat with farmers and Dalits.
"Other parties are rich, we are a poor party...The party workers should remain simple and have food with farmers or Dalits in those villages," he said.
"India awaits new leadership. India is fed up with present leaders. Today we are focusing on Maharashtra. Tomorrow you will have to work in Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat and Chhattisgarh," he said.
The party workers trained in Maharashtra will go to other states in the country to expand the party's base, he said, adding, "Once the party work in Maharashtra begins, I will also go to the states in north India for a couple of weeks and work for the BRS there."
Highlighting that change was the way to achieve progress, Rao said, "In the recent Karnataka polls, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) lost and the Congress came to power. But nothing will change there either. Countries like China, Japan, South Korea, Singapore and Malaysia changed themselves and moved ahead with their past experiences. They changed themselves. These countries, which were once behind us, have now gone ahead of us."
Nine years back, the situation in Telangana was worse than what it is in Maharashtra. If we deduct one year of demonetisation and one more year of the coronavirus pandemic, Telangana has achieved a lot in a period of seven years. Officials have remained the same, only will power brought about a change there. Every house has a water tap in Telangana. In cities, we gave each connection at just one rupee, he said.
But there is no will power in the political parties in Maharashtra, he alleged.
"The city of Solapur receives water once in 10 days, Akola in seven days, Aurangabad in eight days. If the parties here had the will power, they would have changed the situation by now. Even the national capital Delhi doesn't get ample water and electricity," the BRS chief said.
"I started working in Maharashtra two-three months back. The states of Telangana and Maharashtra share nearly a 1,000-km-long border. There are many relatives of people living on the other side of the border in both the states," he added.
Talking about farmers, he asked, "Will the pain of farmers end? I am confident the pain of farmers will end under BRS leadership." Rao spoke of the 'Telangana model' for welfare of farmers.
"Before I became CM, farmers in Telangana were dying. Today the Telangana model is famous all over the country. Every home in Telangana has tap water," he said.
He said he came to know that Yavatmal district in Maharashtra witnesses one farmer suicide every day.
"Farmers in this country have fought a lot since long. In Maharashtra also many agitations took place under the leadership of late Sharad Joshi. Recently, farmers under the leadership of CPI(M) walked from Nashik to Mumbai to demand better price for onion crop. We don't ask people to agitate. They just need to vote for change now," Rao added.
He said the BRS is spending crores for buying offices in Mumbai, Pune, Aurangabad and Nagpur.
"The purchase of a site for the BRS office completed in Nagpur and it is underway in Aurangabad and other divisions of Maharashtra," he said.
Rao held the Congress and BJP governments in the last 75 years responsible for "failure" to use rain and river water in the country.
"There is 1.40 lakh TMC rain in India each year. Half of it evaporates, so 70,000 TMC usable water remain in our rivers. These are central government figures," he said.
"Of this, just 20,000 TMC is being used. The remaining 50,000 TMC goes to sea," the Telangana CM said.
Rao spoke of the inability by governments in the last 75 years of setting up mega dams.
"The Jayakwadi dam near Aurangabad has a capacity of 100 TMC. On the other hand, there is a 6,500 TMC dam in a small country like Zimbabwe," he added.
Rao said Telangana has surpassed Punjab in foodgrain production due to its pro-farmer policies.
He claimed that BRS is bringing about a change.
"Earlier when BRS held a rally in Nanded, the Maharashtra government announced Rs 6,000 aid for farmers. Now the Maharashtra government says it is thinking of abolishing the talathi system. Recently, some officers said that farmers should be given aid of 10,000 rupees based on the Telangana model. Why was this not done earlier?" Rao asked.

Probe Agency Attaches Rs 122 Crore Assets Of Bank Loan Fraud Accused In Pune
Assets worth more than Rs 122 crore of various accused, including that of a former chairman of Pune-based Seva Vikas co-operative Bank and promoter of an education group, have been attached as part of money laundering investigation linked to an alleged bank loan fraud, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) said today.
A provisional order for attaching 47 immovable properties worth Rs 121.81 crore located in Pune in Maharashtra and movable assets of Rs 54.25 lakh (belonging to Devi Concrete Products) has been issued under the criminal sections of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA).
The properties belong to Amar Mulchandani, former chairman of Seva Vikas co-operative Bank, Vivek Aranha, promoter of Pune-based Rosary Education group, Sagar Suryawanshi, Khemchand Bhojwani and their family members and linked entities.
The case stems from a Pune Police FIR against the Rosary Education group, its promoters and others with regard to an alleged loan fraud, the ED said in a statement.
"Subsequently, joint registrar (audit) did an audit of the entire Seva Vikas co-op bank and found gross fraud and misappropriation of Rs 429.6 crore across 124 NPA (non performing assets) loan accounts.
"Based on this audit report, additional FIRs were registered against the loan beneficiaries and bank management including its ex-chairman Amar Mulchandani," it said.
The RBI had cancelled the license of the bank and the ED is probing the "entire bank fraud in which small deposits of thousands of innocent depositors have been siphoned off by illegal loans sanctioned by the management of the bank."
The agency alleged Amar Mulchandani treated public deposits in the bank like his "personal fiefdom" and he "violated" all prudent banking norms to illegally sanction loans to his favoured borrowers in arbitrary manner, without checking their creditworthiness and without adequate collateral securities. He did this, the ED said, after taking "bribes" at the rate of 20 per cent commission of the sanctioned loan amount.
"He made his family members as directors in the bank with a clear motive to have a brute majority in the board of directors to sanction loans as per his whims and fancies," the ED alleged.
Amar Mulchandani, it claimed, also sanctioned various "benami" loans to siphon off money.
"Major loan defaulters Vinay Aranha (family member of Vivek Aranha), Sagar Suryawanshi and Khemchand Bhojwani etc. were found to be hand in glove with Amar Mulchandani. They acted as mutual guarantors in their loan accounts which all turned into NPA," the money laundering investigation found.
It charged that loans were sanctioned to them "illegally" and with clear objectives from day one to default the loan.
"New loans were sanctioned to repay older loans. ED has traced several benami investments made by Amar Mulchandani and others," it said.

"On Alliance With Congress, Opposition Parties Will...": UP Politician
Rashtriya Lok Dal president Jayant Chaudhary on Friday said his party's alliance with the SP will continue while a decision on a possible tie-up with the Congress will be taken only after consultation with other opposition parties.
The RLD leader launched the party's 15-day 'samrasta abhiyan' from here during which he will tour several villages to spread the message of harmony in the run-up to the 2024 general elections. The campaign will conclude on June 3 at Chandpur, Bijnor.
"There is an alliance with the Samajwadi Party and it will continue. Regarding an alliance with Congress, the opposition parties will think about it," the RLD president told newspersons here.
SP chief Akhilesh Yadav has already supported West Bengal Chief Minister and TMC supremo Mamata Banerjee's assertion that her party will support the Congress where it is strong in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.
Supporting Ms Banerjee's statement for opposition unity at the national level, Yadav had recently said the party which is strong in a state should contest elections there.
The SP aligned with the Congress for the 2017 UP Assembly polls but faced a crushing defeat as the BJP won 312 of the 384 seats contested by it in the 403-member house.
Since then, the SP has maintained distance from the Congress in the state even though it did field any candidate against the party in Rae Bareli and Amethi in the previous Parliamentary polls.
The Congress too reciprocated and did not field a candidate against Dimple Yadav in the Mainpuri Lok Sabha bypoll last year.
Jayant Chaudhary credited party workers for the "success" in the recent civic body elections in Uttar Pradesh, saying neither he nor any other "big" leader campaigned for the polls.
Though none of the opposition parties won any of the 17 mayoral seats, the SP and RLD won posts in the nagar parishads and nagar panchayats.
He congratulated the party candidates who won the civic elections and asked them to respect everyone, including those who did not vote for them.
"Give respect to all. Take everyone along and ensure development," he said.
The RLD president said according to the 2011 census, 28 per cent of people live in cities which means development did not take place in the villages.
That's why people are migrating to cities. In such a situation, the responsibility of providing basic facilities to the local bodies increases, he said.
He said he was sure that like his grandfather and former prime minister Chaudhary Charan Singh and father Ajit Singh, former Union minister and founder of the RLD, he too will receive the blessings of the people of Baghpat.
Baghpat is in Jat-dominated western Uttar Pradesh which is considered to be an RLD bastion.
Highlighting the significance of the 'samrasta abhiyan', he said the country needs to be united.
"There is no such thing as Hindu-Muslim and we all are one and live in one country," he said.
The 'samrasta abhiyan' was launched by Ajit Singh and he addressed a series of 'sammelans' in different districts of western UP as part of the campaign. After his death in May 2021, Jayant Chaudhary decided to continue the campaign.

19-Year-Old Promised To Double Money In Single Day, Arrested
A 19-year-old man was arrested from Rajasthan for allegedly scamming people by promising them high returns on crypto investment, police said on Friday.
Narendra Chaudhary, a resident of Sawai Madhopur district in Rajasthan, ran a mobile repair and accessories shop and operated the scam from his village with another person, a juvenile.
The fraud was exposed when a man approached the Delhi Police with a complaint that he was duped of Rs 45,000 in a social media scam.
According to his complaint, the alleged scamsters promised him double the money in a single day, if he invested in crypto funds through them, police said.
As per the complaint received on February 21, the man had joined a group on social media which advertised high returns on investments in bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies, as well as in mutual funds, a senior police officer said.
The man called the mobile number given in the group and started getting messages on WhatsApp. The person on the other side identified himself as Bonesh Meena. He asked the complainant to pay Rs 10,000, and later Rs 6,000 in GST for a month, the officer said.
He called him once more saying his profit has been booked and again asked for Rs 12,000 as commission - swindling him for Rs 45,000 in all by the end.
A team under the supervision of Inspector Pawan Tomar, SHO Cyber Police Station north district, was formed to nab the accused.
During the investigation, police zeroed in on the location of the mobile number, which was traced to Rajasthan's Sawai Madhopur.
Based on the information, police made a raid in Kundera village in Sawai Madhopur and arrested Chaudhary, Deputy Commissioner of Police (north) Sagar Singh Kalsi said.
During questioning, Chaudhary revealed that he worked with a juvenile and operated from Kundera and other nearby villages, he said.

Pak Police At Ex PM Imran Khan's Lahore Home To Arrest "Terrorists": Report
Punjab Police on Friday arrived at former Pakistan prime minister Imran Khan's Zaman Park residence here to conduct a search operation to find “terrorists” reportedly hiding there, media reports said.
The delegation comprises Lahore Commissioner Muhammad Ali Randhawa, Lahore Deputy Commissioner Rafia Haider, DIG Operations Sadiq Dogar and SSP Operations Sohaib, according to the Dawn newspaper.
The team will meet Khan and hold negotiations with him, the report said.
The move comes hours after Punjab Police obtained warrants to conduct a detailed search at Khan's residence.
Punjab information minister Amir Mir said hundreds of policemen will conduct the search operation, the Dawn newspaper reported.
According to the statement, the search will encompass a thorough examination of both the entrance and exit points of the residence, with the primary objective of finding “terrorists” hiding at the place, the Dawn newspaper reported.
On Wednesday, the Punjab government claimed that "30 to 40 terrorists were hiding inside Khan's residence," and gave an ultimatum of 24 hours to his party to hand them over.
However, no action was taken after the deadline expired on Thursday.
Mir said law enforcers will conduct a search operation at Khan's residence after his permission and in front of cameras to apprehend "terrorists", Geo TV reported.
"We [the interim government] have decided that instead of a head-on collision, we will send a delegation to Khan sahab under the supervision of the Lahore commissioner," Mir was quoted as saying in the report.
"They will ask him [Khan] to allow them to conduct a search operation. A police party — comprising 400 personnel — will accompany the delegation as there is a reported presence of terrorists," he said.
Meanwhile, Lahore Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Bilal Saddique Kamyana claimed to have arrested six more “terrorists” attempting to flee from Khan's Zaman Park residence.
On Friday, an anti-terrorism court here approved pre-arrest bail till June 2 to Khan in three terrorism cases filed against Pakistan's former prime minister in the wake of violence that erupted after his arrest on May 9.
In a video-link address from his Zaman Park residence here on Wednesday, Khan, 70, said Pakistan is heading towards an imminent disaster and it may face disintegration.
Khan's arrest on May 9 by the paramilitary Pakistan Rangers at the Islamabad High Court premises triggered unrest in Pakistan.
For the first time in Pakistan's history, the protesters broke into the army headquarters (GHQ) in Rawalpindi and also torched a corps commander's house in Lahore.
Police put the death count in violent clashes to 10, while Khan's party claims 40 of its workers lost their lives in the firing by security personnel.
On Monday, the top military brass vowed to bring the arsonists, who attacked the civil and military installations, to justice through trial under relevant laws of the country, including the Pakistan Army Act and Official Secrets Act.
Law enforcement agencies have arrested over 7,000 PTI workers across Pakistan, 4,000 of them from Punjab.
Meanwhile, Lahore police claimed to have arrested 14 "terrorists" who were trying to flee from Khan's Zaman Park residence.
Khan, the cricketer-turned-politician, was ousted from power in April last year after losing a no-confidence vote in his leadership, which he alleged was part of a US-led conspiracy targeting him because of his independent foreign policy decisions on Russia, China and Afghanistan.
