Police Complaint Against Dog For Tearing Down Jagan Reddy Poster

A police complaint has been filed against a dog for tearing down a poster of Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy. NDTV has seen the written complaint.

The complaint, which appears to be sarcastic, was filed at the Vijayawada police station by a Telugu Desam supporter, Dasari Udayasree.

In the video, the dog is seen tearing the poster and pulling it off the wall.

Ms Udayasree, in her complaint, says it is an insult to the Chief Minister and action must be taken against the dog, people who instigated the dog and those who circulated the now viral video clip.

She has claimed that they have respect for Jagan Mohan Reddy but in Andhra Pradesh even a dog is insulting him.

The poster is one of the latest programmes of the Chief Minister called 'Jagananna Maa Bhavishyathu', meaning Jagan Anna is our future, an ongoing statewide survey by the YSRCP.

Maharashtra Reports Over 1,000 Covid Cases For Second Consecutive Day

Maharashtra on Thursday recorded 1,086 COVID-19 cases and one death, which took the tally to 81,53,377 and the count to 1,48,471, a health official said.

It is the second consecutive day when the addition to the tally was above the 1000-mark, he pointed out. On Wednesday, the state had recorded 1,115 cases.

Mumbai accounted for 274 cases, followed by 85 in Thane, 76 in Nagpur and 65 in Pune, while the sole death took place in Dhule, the official said.

The recovery count increased by 806 in the last 24 hours and touched 79,99,206, leaving the state with an active caseload of 5,700, he said.

So far, 8,67,56,157 coronavirus tests have been conducted in Maharashtra, including 16,011 in the last 24 hours, as per state health department data.

"He's Playful, Pure": Tibetan Leader Defends Dalai Lama Amid Row

The Tibetan government-in-exile has defended the Dalai Lama after outrage over a video showing the spiritual leader kissing a child on his lips and asking him to "suck my tongue".

The Dalai Lama, revered by Tibetans as a "living god", had apologised to the minor boy and his family after a row erupted over the video. His team had said the 87-year-old spiritual leader "often teases people he meets in an innocent and playful way."

Lobsang Sangay, the first president of the Central Tibetan Administration, on Wednesday said the Dalai Lama is a playful person, but acknowledged his actions were seen as "politically incorrect" from non-Tibetan perspectives.

He also questioned the timing of the outrage, stating the incident occurred on February 28. "Why is it going viral now - after five weeks?"

"People should understand, if you've watched the video with the boy, Tibetans will say the boy is so lucky he got a hug from his Holiness, and also got a kiss. But from western and other perspectives, I understand it was politically incorrect," said Mr Sangay.

He referred to the apology issued by the spiritual leader's office and said, "that should be the end of the story. People should move forward".

He also said the Dalai Lama plays with people even at formal meetings and shared multiple such instances.

The Dalai Lama, on his visit to the White House, had told then President Barack Obama he had big ears and played them, Mr Sangay recalled.

"He's pure and has no ill intentions," he said.
