Freddie Klokker's unbeaten 108, coming on the back of left-arm spinner Bashir Shah's excellent spell, propelled Denmark to an eight-wicket win over Bermuda in their WCL Division Four clash at the Royal Selangor Club.

However, perhaps the day's bigger news came at the start, when Bermuda left out star allrounder Kamau Leverock. The move came less than 24 hours after his expletive-laden public tirade at the team's final training session at Kinrara Oval, before the start of the tournament.

Bermuda had a solid opening stand without Leverock, after being sent in at the toss, as Okera Bascome fired away to 63 off 41 balls in an 81-run partnership with captain Terryn Fray.

But by the end of the day, Leverock's absence was telling, as Bermuda collapsed from 134 for 1 to 155 for 7. Though the top three each made solid contributions, only one other batsman made double figures subsequently. Shah crippled Bermuda with 3 for 17 in 10 overs, whereafter Charles Trott tried to resuscitate the innings with 36 off 45 balls at No. 8. Bermuda were eventually bowled out for 209 in the 48th over.

Klokker opened the chase and stayed till the end, striking eight fours and a six. He shared an 89-run opening partnership with Zameer Khan (38 off 56 balls) before an unbroken 115-run stand with the new captain Hamid Shah (48 not out off 59 balls) took Denmark across the line with 49 balls to spare.

After being benched for Bermuda's first two matches at the WCL Division Four for disciplinary reasons, star allrounder Kamau Leverock reminded Jersey of his talent with a devastating 66 off 43 balls to set up a 58-run win over Jersey at Kinrara Oval.

Returning to the scene of Saturday's training-session tirade that earned him a two-match ban, Leverock punished Jersey's bowling attack after they had sent Bermuda in at the toss. Leverock, and his opening partner Okera Bascome, each hit a four and two sixes off Cornelis Bodenstein and Anthony Hawkins-Kay to take Bermuda to 32 for 0 in two overs. Leverock brought up a 28-ball fifty in the 10th over, off Charles Perchard.

Leverock's onslaught against Jersey's bowlers was reminiscent of a similar shellacking two years ago, at the last Division Four in Los Angeles, when he smashed 137 off 111 balls.

Elliot Miles eventually ended the opening stand at 52, but Leverock and capain Terryn Fray put on another 58 for the second wicket to take Bermuda to a commanding 110 for 1 in 15 overs.

Bermuda's scoring rate fell dramatically after Leverock's dismissal, going at under four an over the rest of the way, until they were bowled out for 242 in the final over. The left-arm spin trio of Miles, Ben Stevens and Nat Watkins combined to take eight of the ten wickets.

On what has been a good batting surface at the Kinrara Oval through the tournament, Jersey stuttered in reply, falling to 32 for 3 inside the Powerplay. Stevens once again provided a major contribution with the bat to give Jersey hope, top-scoring with 42 off 52 balls at No. 3. But Jersey were hurt by a number of batsmen failing to convert their starts in the middle and lower order.

Offspinning allrounder Dion Stovell, who took the new ball and dismissed Peter Gough in the fourth over, came back to spin out the tail, finishing with 4 for 33 as Jersey were bowled out in the 43rd over for 184.

Uganda bounce back to wallop Bermuda | Cricket

Captain Roger Mukasa singlehandedly outscored the opposition at UKM-YSD Oval, his 97 for Uganda laying the platform for a 189-run walloping of Bermuda a day after a bitter nine-run loss to Malaysia at WCL Division Four. Mukasa repelled the Bermuda attack after being sent in at the toss, adding 137 for the second wicket with Hamu Kayondo (55 off 95 balls) to set up an easily defendable total.

For the second day in a row, star allrounder Kamau Leverock was left out of the Bermuda lineup for disciplinary reasons. A source informed ESPNcricinfo that Bermuda team management investigated whether they would possibly be allowed a replacement player in their 14-man tournament squad for non-injury reasons, presumably in relation to Leverock after his tirade at team training on Saturday, but were denied.

Without Leverock's runs at the top of the order, Bermuda struggled badly once again as Uganda opened their defence of 249 by using two spinners with the new ball. The strategy was near flawless on what has proven to be a spinners paradise in UKM-YSD Oval's early days as an international venue as Mohammed Irfan and Frank Nsubuga shredded the Bermuda line-up, both men bowling unbroken ten-over spells to leave Bermuda 51 for 8 after 20 overs.

Irfan claimed career-best figures of 6 for 23 while Nsubuga kept pressure at the other end and finished with 2 for 27. Uganda didn't bowl a single ball of pace in the match as Henry Ssenyondo and Brian Masaba took over from Irfan and Nsubuga to split the last two wickets to bowl Bermuda out for 60 in 21.4 overs. The significant net run rate impact for each side means Uganda is still very much in the promotion hunt at 1-1 while Bermuda will have a very difficult time avoiding relegation at 0-2 as they are yet to face Jersey and Denmark, two of the pre-tournament favourites.
