"Insult": Minister On Congress' Rahul Gandhi Pic With "Savarkar" Caption

As the Delhi Police questioned Rahul Gandhi over his "women still being sexually assaulted" remark, the Congress on Sunday took a jibe at the government, saying "Savarkar samjha kya... naam Rahul Gandhi hai".

Law Minister and BJP leader Kiren Rijiju responded on Twitter urging not to "insult" the great personality (Veer Savarkar). "I request with folded hands," the minister said.

The Congress tweeted a photo of the former party chief in the driver's seat of a car, and said, "Savarkar samjha kya... naam- Rahul Gandhi hai (Have you considered him Savarkar?... the name is Rahul Gandhi)." Reacting to it, Rijiju said, "Kripya mahan atma Veer Savarkar ka apmaan na karen. Haath jod kar vinti karta hun (Please don't insult great personality Veer Savarkar. I request with folded hands)".

A Delhi Police team on Sunday questioned Rahul Gandhi at his residence here over his remark made during the Bharat Jodo Yatra that "women are still being sexually assaulted and asked him to provide information about the "victims" to take up their complaints, officials said.

Parts Of Delhi See Hailstorms, Minimum Temperature Drops To 15.4 Degrees

India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Sunday said hailstorms have been reported at isolated places over Delhi's Ayanagar and Palam with the minimum temperature in the national capital being settled at 15.4 degrees Celsius.

Dr Kuldeep Srivastava, Head, of the Regional Weather Forecasting Center, New Delhi said, "Hailstorm was reported at Delhi's Ayanagar and Palam which was small in size. With the western disturbance that is affecting, such activity will continue tomorrow as well and there are chances of thunderstorms and light rain in Delhi NCR. Hailstorms may also occur in a few places in Delhi."

The activity of light to moderate rainfall, lightning, and thunderstorms are affecting the whole of Northwest India. Snowfall has also occurred in the Himalayan region. Rainfall activity will continue tomorrow as well, but the day after it will come down," he further added.

According to IMD, "Thunderstorms with light to moderate intensity rain are also expected in parts of Haryana and Rajasthan. IMD predicted light-intensity rain/drizzle in adjoining isolated places in South Delhi and NCR, and hail storms were predicted in the adjoining areas of Behror in Rajasthan."

"Thunderstorms with light to moderate intensity rain would occur over and adjoining areas of Farukhnagar, Kosali, Mahendargarh, Rewari, Narnaul, Bawal (Haryana) Khairthal, Kotputli, Alwar, Rajgarh (Rajasthan)," IMD added.

Police Case Against Samajwadi Party Leader For Allegedly Assaulting Woman

Police in Etah have lodged an FIR against Samajwadi Party (SP) leader Rameshwar Singh Yadav, his brother and four others for allegedly attempting to kill a man and molesting his wife over a year ago.

Rameshwar Yadav, a former MLA, and his younger brother Judgendra are in jail in connection with various criminal cases and have several cases registered against them.

On Saturday evening, a case was registered against Rameshwar Yadav and other accused on a complaint registered by Sanju, a resident of Lal Dundwara village, said Station House Officer, Malavan, Devendra Nath Mishra.

The complainant alleged that on February 11, 2022, Rameshwar Yadav, his younger brother and former district panchayat president Jugendra, and nephews Pramod Yadav and Subodh Yadav along with two others attacked him and his wife.

The accused also molested the complainant's wife, he claimed.

Sanju claimed he barely managed to escape. The accused would have killed him otherwise, according to the complaint.

The complainant said he mustered the courage to lodge a police complaint as Yadav and his brother are currently in jail.
