Ever Imagined How Powerful Jet Blast Is? Watch This Viral Video

Have you ever thought about the potential power of an aeroplane engine? Tremendous amounts of aviation fuel combined with strong mechanics result in immense power.

On social media recently, a video demonstrating the force of jet engines and depicting people being thrown from their feet by the force went viral.

The video, shared by a Twitter account called "Callum Hodgson", shows around 20-30 people standing casually near an aircraft and taking videos of it roaming next to the runway boundary.

"Here's a small preview of the absolute chaos that occurs when people underestimate the power of aircraft engines!" the user wrote in the caption.

The video further showed that a powerful air current came from the plane's engines as it took off and forced a few people to fall down as others tried to maintain their footing.

What is Jet Blast?

According to the Aviation File, a blog dedicated to all things aviation, jet blast is the effect created by the thrust force that comes out of the back of the engines of jet-powered aircraft. The effect may vary depending on the type of aircraft and the conditions or environment (runway length, departure procedure, etc.). The jet blast effect may increase, especially for heavy-caliber aircraft and high-performance takeoff situations.

Family Of 43-Year-Old Brain Dead Man Donates His Organs To Save Lives

The family of a 43-year-old man who was declared brain dead at AIIMS-Delhi following a head injury donated his organs, helping save multiple lives.

The organs donated by Rajesh Prasad were allocated to recipients through the National Organ and Tissue Transplant Organization (NOTTO). His liver was allocated to AIIMS-Delhi and the kidneys in two hospitals -- AIIMS Delhi and Safdarjang Hospital. His corneas have been banked at the National Eye Bank at AIIMS. His heart valves were also banked at Cardiac Centre, AIIMS, according to a statement issued by AIIMS.

Rajesh Prasad got injured on June 21 when when he slipped and fell from 10-feet high while executing some construction work at Ballabhgarh, AIIMS said in the statement, adding he was first moved to a nearby government hospital.

He was referred to the AIIMS Trauma Centre with a severe head injury, the statement said, adding he was declared brain dead on June 22.

"The family was shocked to hear of the patient's brain death and was emotionally unstable. Initially, they could not accept the concept of organ donations. They were not aware of organ harvesting and donation and were also afraid of disfigurement of the body by organ donation," the statement said.  The Organ Retrieval Banking Organization (ORBO) transplant counsellors and coordinators had multiple counselling sessions with the family after which they consented to the noble cause, the hospital said.

Dr Aart Vij, Head of ORBO AIIMS, said, "It is very hard for the family to decide for organ donation in such a tragic situation while they are in a mental shock and yet to come to terms with their loss".

However, when a family takes this brave decision all the stakeholder work very swiftly to coordinate the entire process.

Russian Rebel Group "Moving Across" Lipetsk Region 400 Km South Of Moscow

Russian Wagner mercenaries were "moving across" the Lipetsk region some 400 kilometres (250 miles) south of Moscow, the governor said Saturday, en route to Moscow after vowing to overthrow Russia's military leadership.

Their chief Yevgeny Prigozhin has vowed to make it to Moscow, after moving his men from occupied Ukraine into Russia overnight and launching an armed insurrection against Russia's top brass.

Wagner mercenaries have occupied an army HQ in the southern city of Rostov-on-Don and were reportedly in the Voronezh region.

But the Lipetsk region is so far the closest location to Moscow where Wagner columns have been spotted.

"Hardware of the Wagner mercenary group is moving across the territory of the Lipetsk region," Governor Igor Artamonov said on Telegram.

"I remind you that residents are strongly recommended not to leave their houses or to make trips on any mode of transport."

He did not say exactly where in the region the Wagner fighters were seen.

The pro-Kremlin Telegram channel Rybar, which closely analysed the conflict in Ukraine, has said that Wagner columns were seen near Yelets, 390 kilometres (240 miles) south of Moscow.

AFP was not able to verify the report.

Further north closer to Moscow, the Kaluga region introduced travel restrictions as Wagner forces marched on the capital.

"Please refrain from travelling by private vehicle on these roads unless absolutely necessary," Governor Vladislav Shapsha said in a statement on social media, referring to transport arteries between his region and several others, including those bordering Ukraine.

Russia has introduced a "counter-terror regime" in Moscow.

In the southern Voronezh region, authorities said the military was carrying out "combat" operations and said a huge oil depot was on fire.

President Vladimir Putin has vowed to punish the mutineers, calling them "traitors".

Prigozhin fired back at the long-time leader, saying he was "deeply mistaken", and vowed to press onto Moscow.

He said his men entered Russia and occupied the army building in Rostov-on-Don without firing a "single shot", claiming to have support from locals.

Siddaramaiah Orders Open 'Cursed' Door That Loses Polls

Shutting the door on superstition and opening it to reason once again, Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has begun using the 'inauspicious' south door to his chamber in the state assembly building today.

The door in the Vidhana Soudha, which was forced shut in 1998 after then chief minister J H Patel lost the assembly elections, had been ordered open by Mr Siddaramaiah after he became the chief minister in 2013. Six chief ministers assumed office in those 15 years, but the door remained firmly shut.

Despite losing the chief ministership in 2018 and three successors - BJP's B S Yediyurappa and Basavaraj Bommai, and H D Kumaraswamy of the Janata Dal (Secular) - refusing to use the door, Siddaramaiah got it opened again today.

The chief minister's chamber is on the third floor of the Vidhana Soudha and even assembly members consider the south-facing door unlucky, preferring to use the west-facing one instead. The south door is said to be in non-compliance with 'Vaastu' standards.

Mr Yediyurappa, known to be superstitious, had changed the spelling of his name from 'Yeddyurappa' before taking oath as chief minister for the fourth time in 2019.

'Yediyurappa' was how the BJP leader had spelt his name through most of his political career - from the time he won his first civic body election in 1975 to being appointed as the Chief Minister for the first time in 2007. He had then changed the spelling of his name to 'Yeddyurappa', reportedly on the advice of numerologists.

Last year, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had also taken a dig at Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao over his superstitious beliefs. The PM had claimed that all decisions - from where to live to whom to pick as minister- were being taken based on superstition.

Can't Fight Against "Superhuman" PM Alone: Shivraj Chouhan's Dig

Opposition parties are coming together as they cannot fight the electoral battle against "superhuman" Prime Minister Narendra Modi alone and are unable to match the work he has done on the ground, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan said on Saturday.

Speaking to PTI on the sidelines of an event of his government's flagship 'Ladli Behna' scheme here, the CM also said the Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) will win over 200 seats in the forthcoming assembly polls.

The state has 230 assembly seats and elections are to be held later this year.

"Prime Minister Narendra Modi is one of the most popular leaders in the world. Wherever he goes, people greet him with love and pride (unki jai jai hoti hai). You have seen this in the US." "The opposition parties cannot match his development and welfare initiatives and the work he does on the ground," Shivraj Singh Chouhan said. "People wonder how can one person be so complete and hence I say Modiji is a superhuman." Shivraj Singh Chouhan said the country and the citizens were progressing under PM Modi's leadership and there is a wave of support for him.

"As the opposition parties cannot fight alone, they have come together to contest the electoral battle," the Chief Minister said. "Otherwise, these very parties keep fighting (among themselves)." He was commenting on a meeting of opposition parties at Patna on Friday.

A total of 17 opposition parties resolved to fight the 2024 Lok Sabha elections unitedly to defeat the saffron party and work with flexibility by setting aside their differences.

Asked about the challenge in his state posed by the Congress, buoyed by its victories in Karnataka and Himachal Pradesh, Shivraj Singh Chouhan said his party's roots in the state were "very strong" and the BJP will win more than 200 seats in the assembly elections. On his promise to scale up the monetary benefit from Rs 1,000 to Rs 3,000 for a select category of needy women under the 'Ladli Behna' scheme, the Chief Minister said the financial condition of Madhya Pradesh was "sound" which will enable his government to keep its promise.

"In 2003 under the Congress rule, the state's budget was Rs 21,000 crore which is Rs 3.14 lakh crore now. We are sure that with improvement in the finances we will be able to scale up the monetary grant under the 'Ladli Behna' scheme," he said.

Under the scheme, women aged between 23-60 years will be given Rs 1,000 per month with certain riders, including that they are not income tax payees and their families' annual income is below Rs 2.50 lakh annually.

Shivraj Singh Chouhan called this scheme a "financial empowerment" tool for women and said at the public rally here that he will ensure that the monthly income of the needy women is made Rs 10,000 per month.

Shivraj Singh Chouhan said at the public meeting that after being a 'mama' -- he is affectionately called 'mama' by people -- he is also a 'bhaiya' (elder brother) now, alluding to the 'Ladli Behna'scheme he launched in March.

"This 'Ladli Behna' scheme did not start today. We started with the 'Ladli Laxmi' scheme for the girl child after we saw that the sex ratio in Madhya Pradesh was skewed with 912 females as compared to per 1000 males.

"We wanted to ensure that a girl is not killed in the womb and hence we started schemes that empower the girl child and also the women. We have decided to empower our sisters as much as we can," he said.

Shivraj Singh Chouhan said Madhya Pradesh was the "first state in the country" to ensure 50 per cent reservation for women in the elections of the local bodies.

"I am happy to see women leading in Panchayats and local bodies. This is a political empowerment of the women. We have 56 per cent women representatives in these bodies now," he said.

The Chief Minister said 45% property registried in the state at present were being done in the name of women after his government reduced the registration rate and stamp paper duty for the females and made it at one per cent of the total property value.

The Chief Minister said he will ensure that all his promises are met and are continued. He accused the Congress, the main opposition party in the state, of "deceiving" the people, saying the party made at least 900 promises during the last assembly polls but did not keep even one.
