KCR's Daughter Takes "1,000 Mice" Dig At Rahul Gandhi's Bharat Jodo Yatra
Hitting out at Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, Bharat Rashtra Samithi MLC K Kavitha on Wednesday said his Bharat Jodo Yatra was like "a cat that killed 1,000 mice going on a pilgrimage".
Ms Kavitha, who spoke at a party meeting in Bhodan, also took a dig at the Congress and said it ruled the country for 62 years, during which the "poor remained poor" despite the party's ''Garibi Hatao' slogan.
This is Ms Kavitha's first visit to Nizamabad Lok Sabha Constituency after she publicly announced that she would be contesting from here in the 2024 General Elections. BRS cadres held a huge rally to welcome her.
"He (Rahul Gandhi) took out a foot-march -- Bharat Jodo Yatra. You know how I feel (about that yatra?) A cat that killed 1,000 mice goes on a pilgrimage. That is how Rahul Gandhiji (acted)," the BRS leader said.
"The Congress Party ruled for 62 years after the country gained independence. What have you done for Muslims? You (the Congress Party) kept on saying 'Garibi Hatao'. What have you done for the poor? You removed poor people, but not poverty," she added.
Mas Kavitha, who is the daughter of Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao (KCR), asked the BRS party cadres to go to every household and mosque in the constituency and meet maulanas (Muslim men who are revered for their religious knowledge) to explain to them why one should not vote for the Congress.
"No one could bring the revolution in Telangana that Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao has been able to usher in the last 10 years in the state. Our minority brothers should think about whether one should vote for the Congress," she said.
She claimed that there has been no development in the country despite the rule of Congress leaders for generations.
According to her, Telangana Muslims are not thinking of anything other than "Car and Sarcar (government)". Car is the poll symbol of the BRS Party.
During the past 10 years under KCR's rule, there has been no communal violence in the state, Ms Kavitha said.
The MLC added that Rahul Gandhi says that the Constitution and democracy are under threat, but the truth is that Telangana has a powerful leader and a powerful democracy, and the Constitution is thriving under the leadership of CM KCR.

Unaware Of What Transpired In Sharad Pawar-Ajit Pawar Meet: Supriya Sule
NCP leader Supriya Sule today said that she is not aware of what transpired in last week's meeting between Sharad Pawar and Ajit Pawar at the home of a Pune businessman.
The meeting between NCP founder Sharad Pawar and his nephew and Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar on August 12 at businessman Atul Chordiya's residence in the Koregaon Park area had sent political circles abuzz.
Supriya Sule, who represents Baramati in the Lok Sabha, said she was not present in the meeting and has no idea about what happened there.
"Even before my Dada's (Ajit Pawar's) birth, the Pawar and Chordiya families shared a good association as Mr (Atul) Chordiya's father and Pawar Saheb were together in college. So there is nothing to be surprised if both the families meet," said Supriya Sule.
Maharashtra Congress president Nana Patole on Tuesday said it was a matter of concern for his party that Sharad Pawar and Ajit Pawar were meeting "secretly".
Sharad Pawar is part of the Maha Vikas Aghadi alliance of Shiv Sena (UBT), Congress and NCP, while Ajit Pawar split the Nationalist Congress Party last month to join the Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena-BJP government.
Speaking about Ajit Pawar's stand, Supriya Sule said difference of opinion does take place and it should be seen as a sign of a healthy democracy.
She said Saroj Patil, wife of late comrade Dr ND Patil, is a sister of Sharad Pawar but both the senior Pawar and ND Patil had stood against each other on several occasions.
"That does not mean that our aunt's love for us has reduced. In our family, personal relations are on one side and political opinions are on the other side," she said.
Despite the differences between "Pawar Saheb and ND Patil", Supriya Sule said, Maharashtra accepted them and both leaders received love.
"A similar situation has once again taken place in the state. If Dada (Ajit Pawar) thinks his political stand is correct, then in a democratic setup, it should be accepted. Our stand might be different from Dada and I do not see it as wrong in a democracy," she said.
Asked about reports claiming that she has received an "offer" from the BJP, Supriya Sule said she has not received anything from anyone.

Punjab Will Be "Drug-Free" By Next Independence Day, Says Bhagwant Mann
Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann Tuesday said a blueprint is ready for dealing a severe blow to the menace of drugs in order to make Punjab a drug-free state by the next Independence Day.
Bhagwant Mann was addressing a gathering after unfurling a national flag in a state-level function on the occasion of the country's 77th Independence Day.
The chief minister said Punjabis are born leaders and they cannot lag behind in any field but the need of the hour is to channelise their unbounded energy for which the state government is making concerted efforts.
The day is not far when due to these persistent efforts, the state will lead the country, Mr Mann said, adding that once Punjab leads the nation, India will guide the world.
Every effort is being made by the state government in this regard and no stone will be left unturned for this noble cause as a humble tribute to the national heroes, he said.
On the issue of drug menace in the state, Bhagwant Mann vowed to make Punjab a "drug-free" state by the next Independence Day.
He said the state government has prepared a blueprint against 'chitta' (synthetic drug) and it will be implemented with the pro-active support of the people.
"We are ready with a big plan and you will start seeing the results. I am getting calls from villagers who say that they are ready to support. Because an entire village knows who is selling (drugs)," said Chief Minister Mann without elaborating much about the blueprint.
"I assure you that before next August 15, we will be successful in washing away the stigma of 'chitta'," he said.
The chief minister said every village in Punjab has the footprint of one or another martyr who had sacrificed their lives for the country.
"Even today the youth of the state are valiantly safeguarding the borders of the country whether from the side of Pakistan, Bangladesh or China," he said.
Mr Mann, however, said some people are living in a "fool's paradise" when they try to teach us nationalism.
The Punjabis do not need NOC from these "pseudo nationalists", he added The state government is according top priority to health, education, employment and agriculture sectors for realising the dream of great freedom fighters, martyrs and national heroes, Bhagwant Mann said.
The dreams of martyrs have not been fulfilled even after the passing of more than 76 years of Independence, he said, adding that the entire country is indebted to these great heroes for which their dreams have to be realised.
Bhagwant Mann claimed that due to concerted efforts of the state government, Punjab is heading towards being a corruption-free state by adopting a zero-tolerance policy against corruption.
He said the state government is ensuring judicious utilisation of the funds from the state exchequer.
The previous governments always said that the state treasury is empty but his government is using every single penny for the well-being of the people, the chief minister claimed.
He further said efforts will be made to depoliticize the elections of village 'sarpanchs' (village heads).
Villages electing their sarpanchs unanimously will be given a number of grants for the development of the villages.
The motive is to ensure that no violence takes place in the panchayat elections and a congenial atmosphere is maintained in the villages, he added.
Mr Mann also said those who live in palaces had never been with the people and they had always sided with either Britishers or Congress and now with BJP whatever suited them.
These leaders had always given preference to their own vested interests over that of the state and its people, he said while apparently referring to former chief minister Amarinder Singh.

Paris Hilton Slammed For Vacationing In Maui Amid Devastating Wildfires
Hotel heiress Paris Hilton is being slammed on social media after she was spotted vacationing on the beaches of Maui, Hawaii, just 30 miles away from the devastated town of Lahaina. Pictures that have surfaced online show Mrs. Hilton enjoying a beach day at a resort in Wailea with her husband, Carter Reum, and their son, Phoenix, Page Six reported.
Meanwhile, nearly 100 people have died, thousands have been displaced and buildings and businesses have burnt down, making it one of the worst natural disasters to hit the US.
Criticising her, one person wrote, ''While Maui burns, Paris Hilton Fiddles ( on vacay in Maui)! Get a clue honey and go home.''
''Tone, meet my friend deaf,'' said another.

A third wrote, ''Paris Hilton is vacationing in Maui at a resort 30 min from Lahaina. Imagine watching thousands of ppl lose their homes, loved ones, families, etc, and then expecting them to SERVE YOU DRINKS WHILE U FROLIC ON THE BEACH IN FRONT OF THEM OMG.''
“It was initially a planned family trip, and she has been traveling to Maui since she was born. She has many friends and family there and it's a second home for her," a source close to Mrs Hilton told People.
The pictures come days after Hawaiian native Jason Momoa urged people not to vacation in Maui amid the ongoing devastation.
''Maui is not the place to have your vacation right now. DO NOT TRAVEL TO MAUI. Do not convince yourself that your presence is needed on an island that is suffering this deeply,'' he wrote on Instagram.
The Hawaii Tourism Authority also posted a similar statement urging visitors not to come to Hawaii at this time and for those vacationing on the island to leave Maui. Many hotels are currently housing evacuees, with as many as 4,500 people in need of shelter.
One local woman told the BBC, "The same waters that our people just died in three days ago are the same waters the very next day these visitors — tourists — were swimming in. That says a lot about where their heart and mind is and where our heart and mind is. You don't see our people swimming, snorkeling, surfing. Nobody is having fun in tragedy."
The wildfire is the deadliest in the United States since 1918, when 453 people died in Minnesota and Wisconsin, according to the nonprofit National Fire Protection Association. Hawaiian authorities have begun a probe into the handling of the fire, with residents saying there had been no warning.

"Ties With India Important For US National Security": Congressman
An enduring partnership between India and the US, especially in areas of defence and new technologies, is crucial to confront China's aggressive behaviour and deal with the consequences of the Ukraine crisis, visiting US Congressman Shri Thanedar said here on Sunday.
Thanedar told PTI in an interview that there is a general view in the US Congress that Washington's relationship with New Delhi is very important for the national security of the US.
The Indian-origin Congressman is part of a bipartisan group of US lawmakers who are in India to take part in several events including Prime Minister Narendra Modi's address at the historic Red Fort on August 15.
Thanedar said there is bipartisan support in the US for closer ties with India and it was evident from the warm welcome showered on Prime Minister Modi by both Democrats and Republicans during his address to the joint session of the US Congress on June 23.
"PM Modi's visit to the US was very very significant. The chemistry and friendship between PM Modi and President Joe Biden signified that we are turning a new page in our relationship," the lawmaker said.
"Our visit to India is aimed at continuing to foster that relationship into a long-lasting friendship," he added.
The bipartisan Congressional delegation is led by Indian-American Congressman Ro Khanna and Congressman Michael Waltz. The two are co-chairs of the bipartisan Congressional Caucus on India and Indian Americans.
"Currently, there is a general feeling in the Congress that this relationship with India is very important for the national security of the US, considering the Ukraine war and China's aggression," Thanedar said.
Asked about the deal between American aircraft engine maker GE Aerospace and Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) to produce fighter jet engines in India, he indicated that it would be endorsed by Congress.
During the prime minister's recent visit to the US, GE Aerospace and HAL signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) in Washington to produce the F414 engines in India.
India's plan to procure 31 MQ-9B High Altitude Long Endurance (HALE) drones from the US was also finalised when the prime minister was in the US.
"I anticipate that both the drone deal as well as the jet engine project will be favourably received in the US," he said.
Thanedar said considering China's aggressive behaviour and its unfair trade policies, the US is looking at India to become a strong partner.
"It is very important that the US and India work together in areas of space and defence, focus on innovation in defence technologies - be it drones or jet engines," he said.
"This collaboration will go a long way in sending a strong message to China and Russia that their aggression will not be tolerated," he added.
Asked about India's strong relationship with Russia, the Congressman said that he hoped that India would have a relook at its ties with Moscow.
"Going forward India has to choose how much friendship and business collaboration it wants to have with Russia and how much of a collaboration it wants to do with the US," he said.
"Time has come now, I believe to choose a side and choose who is a true friend," he said, describing the India-US relationship as "very very important".
At the same time, he said the US cannot tell India what it should do. "But we hope India will look at its relationship with Russia." Asked about a recent report by the US State Department on religious freedom that criticised India for alleged attacks on minorities, Thanedar said every country has issues.
"The US needs to work more in terms of racial relations. None of us is perfect. India has its issues, the US has its issues. But they become far pale compared to what we see happening in the Middle East and China," he said.
"When you are friends, you talk and help each other become better nations," he added.
The lawmaker said Russia's invasion of Ukraine sent a signal why India and the US need to work together to fight aggression.
"India has also faced military aggression from China. So, a strong relationship between India and the US is very important," he said.
The US Congressman also asserted that the US needs to look at issues relating to immigration and H1B visas.

Reduced Risk Of Heart Attack & 5 Other Benefits Of Following A Vegetarian Diet
A vegetarian diet can reduce the risk of heart attack in several ways. Animal products like meat and dairy contain high levels of saturated fats and cholesterol, which can lead to the accumulation of plaque in the arteries. Vegetarian diets are typically lower in saturated fats and cholesterol, leading to lower levels of harmful LDL cholesterol.
Plant-based diets are also often high in potassium and low in sodium, which helps regulate blood pressure. Consuming fewer animal products and more fruits, vegetables, grains, and legumes can help lower blood pressure, reducing the risk of heart disease and heart attacks.
Vegetarian foods are also rich in antioxidants and phytochemicals, which have anti-inflammatory properties. Chronic inflammation plays a significant role in the development and progression of heart disease. By including more anti-inflammatory foods in their diet, vegetarians can help reduce this risk.
Vegetarian diets are typically lower in calories and higher in fibre compared to diets that include animal products. This can help individuals maintain a healthy weight, which is essential for reducing the risk of heart disease.
A vegetarian diet, especially a vegan diet, has been associated with a reduced risk of developing diabetes. Since diabetes is a significant risk factor for heart attack, this reduced risk indirectly contributes to a lower likelihood of experiencing a heart attack.
A vegetarian diet is typically low in saturated fat and cholesterol, which are known to contribute to heart disease. Consuming a vegetarian diet can help lower blood pressure and improve overall heart health. Below we list other ways in which a vegetarian diet boosts our health.
5 Ways in which vegetarian diet boosts our health:
1. Weight management
Vegetarian diets are generally lower in calories and higher in fibre compared to diets that include meat. This can help with weight management, as high-fibre foods make you feel fuller for longer and may reduce overall calorie intake.
2. Lower risk of certain types of cancer
Research suggests that vegetarians have a lower risk of developing certain types of cancer, such as colorectal, breast, and prostate cancers. This may be due to the higher intake of fruits, vegetables, and legumes, which are rich in antioxidants and phytochemicals that help protect against cancer.
3. Improved digestion
Vegetarian diets are typically rich in fibre from fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and legumes. This high fibre content can help promote better digestion, prevent constipation, and maintain a healthy gut microbiome.

Raksha Bandhan 2023: Is Rakhi On August 30 Or 31? Know Here
Raksha Bandhan, a vibrant and cherished Indian festival, celebrates the sacred bond between brothers and sisters. This heartfelt occasion is marked by the sister tying a colorful and auspicious thread, known as the "Rakhi", around her brother's wrist, symbolising her love and prayers for his well-being. In return, the brother promises to protect and support his sister throughout her life. On this day, families come together, exchanging gifts and sharing festive meals, strengthening the bonds that hold them close.
Raksha Bandhan is celebrated on the full moon day of the Hindu month of Shravan, typically falling in August. On this day, people also exchange rakhis with close friends, neighbors, and even soldiers, acknowledging the broader concept of mutual care and security.
There is some buzz on social media about the dates of the festival this year. Some users are claiming that Raksha Bandhan will be celebrated on August 30, while others say the date is August 31.
The confusion arises because of the lunar calendars and some regional influence. The users have attributed the difference to some astrologers who have posted videos about the auspicious time and date for celebrating Raksha Bandhan.
It is to be noted that as per the scheduled followed by Hindus, the festival will be celebrated on August 30.
Raksha Bandhan is not a public holiday in India, but an optional one. Some offices and schools declare off on this day.
Different state governments have announced schemes for women to celebrate Raksha Bandhan. Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan said on Thursday that he will organise a special program to have a dialogue with women and distribute gifts to them on August 27 on the occasion of Raksha Bandhan.
A day before him, Haryana Transport Minister Mool Chand Sharma said that the state roadways buses will offer free travel facility to women on the day of the festival.

400-Feet Tiranga Carried At Independence Day Rally In Jammu And Kashmir
A massive 400-fit tricolour was carried by people at a rally in Jammu and Kashmir's Anantnag district as part of the Independence Day celebrations.
The rally was organised under the 'Meri Maati Mera Desh' campaign.
The Tiranga Rally taken out in the Sadiwara village of Verinag in the south Kashmir district saw a massive participation of the people including students. The rally was organised with the help of the army and the police.
Panchayat Sadiwara Sarpanch Farooq Ahmad Ganie led the rally which carried a 400-feet long national flag.
"This Tiranga rally does not belong to a person or an ideology. It is a collective ideology of Sadiwara village," Ganie told PTI.
He said the rally was also a tribute to the sacrifices of the soldiers.
"I think there cannot be a bigger tribute than this for the jawans because of whom we are living freely. We should give the 'title of proud mother' to those mothers whose children sacrificed their lives for the security of the nation.
"We are paying homage to those jawans by holding the tiranga, picking up maati (soil) and lighting up diyas. We salute them," he said.
The sarpanch said he feels proud that many people and ideologies have come together to hold the tricolour and it is a reply to those who had said there will be no one to hold the national flag in Kashmir.
"India lives in the hearts of everyone - old and young, and it will continue to be so. God willing, the country's flag will keep flying always high," he added.
