India Has Opportunity To Become World's Skill Capital: PM Modi
Underlining the skill and work ethics of Indian youth, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday said that the country has the opportunity to become the "skill capital" of the world.
"India has the opportunity to become not only the knowledge centre but also the world's skill capital. This skill capital can become the engine of global growth," the Prime Minister said while inaugurating the 17th Pravasi Bharatiya Divas Convention in Indore,
Noting the enthusiasm among the next generation Pravasi Bhartiya Youth, PM Modi urged the gathering to tell the youth about their country and also provide them with occasions to visit it.
"With traditional understanding and modern approach, these young Pravasis will be able to tell the world about India more effectively. With increasing curiosity about India among the youth, tourism, research and glory of India will enhance," he said.
The Prime Minister said such youth can visit India during festivals or get associated with the events related to Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsava.
The Prime Minister suggested that there should be a sustained effort to document the lives, the struggle and the contributions of Pravasi Bharatiyas for their respective countries through universities and research institutions.
PM Modi said that each and every Bharatvanshi carries the entire India with him or her.
"In the last 8 years, India has tried to strengthen its diaspora. It is India's commitment today that wherever you are the country is for your interests and expectations," he said.
The Prime Minister highlighted that India is taking over the G-20 Presidency this year and the responsibility comes with a great opportunity to make the world aware of India's past experiences to attain a sustainable future and learn from these experiences.
"G-20 is not just a diplomatic event but it should be turned into a historic event of public participation where one can witness the sentiment of 'Atithi Devo Bhava," he said.
On the occasion, the Prime Minister released a commemorative postal stamp 'Surakshit Jaayen, Prashikshit Jaayen' and also inaugurated the first-ever digital PBD Exhibition on the theme 'Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav - Contribution of Diaspora in Indian Freedom Struggle'.
Pravasi Bharatiya Divas (PBD) Convention is the flagship event of the Government of India that provides an important platform to engage and connect with overseas Indians and enable them to interact with each other. The theme of this PBD Convention is 'Diaspora: Reliable partners for India's progress in Amrit Kaal'. Over 3,500 members from nearly 70 different countries have registered for the PBD Convention.

Jammu Man Fakes Death To Escape Debt, Found With Family In Haryana
A couple and their six-year-old daughter from Jammu and Kashmir's Doda were found alive in Haryana, 20 days after they were presumed dead after their car was found plunged into river Chenab in the hilly district last month.
Manjeet Singh staged the accident to evade his loan debits but his endeavour was nailed by the police who traced him in Haryana's Panchkula and brought him back here to face the law, an official said.
The official said the 31-year-old Singh along with his wife and daughter were reported missing on December 20, last year after their car reportedly met with an accident near Gadsoo in Doda district while they were on their way to Jammu from their Bhaderwah residence.
Immediately after getting information about the accident, senior police and civil officers rushed to the spot to supervise the rescue operation.
Police teams found two identity cards, a driving license and an e-Shram card belonging to Singh including a purse from the spot where the car had rolled down into the river, the official said. The vehicle was retrieved from the Chenab river, while the rescuers including SDRF teams could not find the bodies or luggage during the operation which continued for several days.
The official said police started looking at other aspects like the financial condition of the missing family.
During the investigation, it transpired that Singh had taken a loan of Rs 30 lakhs from different banks and private lenders to establish his business.
Following this, the police got suspicious and Doda Senior Superintendent of Police Abdul Qayoom constituted a special team to search for the missing family, he said.
With the help of Haryana police, the family was found in Panchkula's Abhaypura village and have been brought back to Doda, the official said.
A case has been registered against Singh and further investigation is underway, he said.

Russia-Ukraine War: McDonald's Shuts Operations In Kazakhstan Over Supply Shortage
McDonald's has shut down its locations in Kazakhstan due to supply issues, as per a report in the BBC. Although the fast food chain has not explained the reason for the shortage, it is assumed that supply problems triggered by Russia's invasion of Ukraine are to be blamed.
It is said that McDonald's has forbidden its local franchisee from buying hamburgers from Russian suppliers. The operator of the chain in Kazakhstan, Food Solutions KZ, announced it will reopen its locations under a new name, the report further mentions.
Workers could be seen removing the enormous white lettering on one of the branches in Almaty, the largest city. After severing links with Russian businesses and running out of supplies, the company's licensee in Kazakhstan was forced to temporarily close its restaurants in November, according to Reuters. However, they now appear to have permanently shut down.
"The chain of fast-service restaurants managed by Food Solutions KZ LLP will stop working under the McDonald's brand in Kazakhstan due to supply restrictions. The reopening of the company and the opening date of the quick service restaurants under the new name will be announced soon. We will answer all questions related to the company's continued operations after this transition is completed," McDonald's Kazakhstan said in a statement on Instagram.
The fast-food chain added, "After the opening of the chain of restaurants, visitors will be offered high quality products, a varied menu and hospitable service. Fast food restaurants will continue to operate in accordance with the current high standards, values and business principles."
Food Solutions KZ's Head, Aset Mashanov, in a meeting with the government in December, said that efforts were being made to source meat products locally in order to restart its operations as soon as possible. He also mentioned that it would be challenging to import produce from other countries if customs clearance and other bureaucratic hurdles were not removed, the BBC added.
