Man Who Claims To Work Over 16 Hours A Day Seeks Health Advice, Doctor Says...

A 37-year-old man who works more than 16-17 hours a day at a corporate job recently contacted a doctor on Twitter because he was concerned about his blood pressure. The man, who goes by the name Harshal on the micro-blogging site, sought health advice from Dr Sudhir Kumar, a neurologist from Apollo Hospitals in Hyderabad.

"Hi Doctor, I am 37 yo, in corporate job, current working hours from the past 6 months are more than 16-17 hours, have to give non-stop coverage for all global regions, I recently did BP check, and it's 150/90 and 84 min. Please advise next steps," Mr Harshal tweeted.

In response to this,  Dr Kumar recommended the Twitter user to "reduce working hours by 50 percent". He also jokingly asked him to ensure that an unemployed person, whose job Mr Harshal was doing in addition to him, gets a job. 

"Reduce working hours by 50 percent, and ensure an unemployed person gets a job (whose job you are doing in addition to yours)," the doctor said. 

In the following tweet, Mr Harshal thanked the doctor for the advice. He also revealed that he had to finally quit his job because he was told to work during the weekend as well. 

"Thank you for the suggestion, I have quit the job now because it was getting very toxic at the top. Left at my best high because I told my boss I can't be available on a weekend and then she said, she will have to find a replacement then, quit immediately after it (sic)," he wrote.

Dr Kumar hailed Mr Harshal's resignation as a "great decision". "Thank you. Need blessings from all over to start something new," Mr Harshal tweeted. 

Now, this Twitter conversation between Mr Harshal and Dr Sudhir Kumar has gone viral on the micro-blogging site. Internet users empathised with Mr Harshal's situation. 

"Must not have been an easy decision at all. Hope u find something that's probably something u feel enthused about, every day," wrote one user. 

"Escape corporate stress, reconnect with mother nature, and earn from organic farming. Combine technology and ancient wisdom for a fulfilling journey in agriculture. Explore the potential of organic farming by combining cutting-edge technologies with ancient wisdom," commented another. 

"@HarshalSal67 16-17 hours of continuous work is not due to work pressure but it is the result of bad planning, bad management and bad resourcing!! And this  sets the bad culture for others in the company too!! Start saying NO!! Things will change!!" wrote another user.

Rajnath Singh Praises PM Modi's Leadership, Cites Article 370, Ram Temple

Praising Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Saturday said that today the whole world is looking towards India as its position has strengthened manifold.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh was interacting with intellectuals at Gopal Narayan Singh University Rohtas, Bihar where he said, "BJP fulfils promises, we abolished Article 370 and the grand Ram temple is now being built.

"Hum rajniti sirf sarkar banane ke liye nahi balki samaj banane ke liye karte hai. (We don't do politics for forming a government but for the welfare of the society)."

He said that water has reached around 12 crore homes in the country through taps.

"Today, water has reached around 12 crore homes in the country through taps. In the year 2014, there was no electricity in about 18,000 villages. Today electricity has reached every house," said Rajnath Singh.

He further added that India's economic growth is tremendous and is progressing very fast.

"Now India's economic growth is tremendous. Today, India is progressing very fast. India has joined the top 5 economies of the world. Morgan Stanley has said that India will be counted among the top 3 economies of the world by 2027," said Singh.

He further shed light that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has given a system where every hundred paise is reaching the bank account of the people.

"Former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi had said that I send 100 paise, but only 15 paise reaches the bottom. Our Prime Minister has given such a system that every hundred paise is reaching the bank account of the people," said Rajnath Singh.

"Our Prime Minister Narendra Modi has done the work of evacuating Indian students safely during the war between Russia and Ukraine. He talked to the President of Russia, Ukraine and America and the war stopped so that the Indian children were evacuated safely," he added.

Referring to the defence production in the country, he highlighted that it has crossed one lakh crore and the exports have reached a record level of Rs 16,000 crores.

"Today the defence production in the country has crossed one lakh crore. Earlier defence exports were less than one thousand crores, today the exports have reached a record level of Rs 16000 crores. Defence exports are targeted to reach 35000 crores in the coming years," said Mr Singh.

"Positive indigenization lists of 411 items have been issued by the Armed Forces and 4,666 items by Defense PSUs. These will be made in India and by Indian hands only," he added.

He further said that a maximum number of digital transactions are taking place in India.

"Today, the maximum number of digital transactions are taking place in India. Earlier people used to say that digital transactions are not possible in a country like India. Today a large number of digital transactions are taking place in Bihar as well," he said.

The defence minister said that Birsa Munda has been given the honour which was not given earlier.

"For the first time in the country, Birsa Munda has been given that honour, which was not given earlier. Tribal Pride Day is being celebrated in his honour today," said Mr Singh.

PM Modi To Inaugurate 1st-Ever National Training Conclave Tomorrow

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the first 'National Training Conclave' here on Sunday and will address its more than 1,500 participants drawn from training and research institutes across the country.

An official statement said PM Modi has been a proponent of improving the governance process and policy implementation in the country through capacity building of civil service.

As part of this vision, the National Programme for Civil Services Capacity Building (NPCSCB) -- 'Mission Karmayogi' -- was launched to prepare a future-ready civil service with the right attitude, skills and knowledge. This conclave is yet another step in this direction, it said.

The event is being hosted by the Capacity Building Commission with an objective to foster collaboration among civil services training institutes and strengthen the training infrastructure for civil servants across the country.

More than 1,500 representatives from training and research institutes will participate in the conclave. Civil servants from central government departments, state governments, local governments, as well as experts from the private sector will also take part in the deliberations, it said.

The statement said this diverse gathering will foster the exchange of ideas, identify the challenges being faced and opportunities available, and generate actionable solutions and comprehensive strategies for capacity building. 

The conclave will have eight panel discussions, each focusing on key concerns pertinent to civil services training institutes such as faculty development, training impact assessment and content digitisation, among others, it said.

PM Shehbaz Sharif Hopes To Strike IMF Deal As Pakistan Unveils Budget 2024

Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Friday hoped the IMF would resume the stalled USD 6.7 billion bailout programme as his country has already met all prior conditions set by the global lender despite economic hardships.

The premier's remarks came as Finance Minister Ishaq Dar presented a PKR 14 trillion budget for the fiscal year 2023-24, which the government claims to have shared with the International Monetary Fund (IMF).

The budget needs to satisfy the IMF to secure the release of more bailout money for the cash-strapped Pakistan, which is due to hold a general election by November.

"The ninth review will be complete soon," Mr Sharif said during his address to the federal cabinet of the coalition government, which presented its second budget.

Referring to the devastating floods triggered by climate change, he said it inflicted losses worth over USD 30 billion on the country's economy.

He added that the Ukraine crisis also pushed the prices of commodities in the international market.

"A country's sound economic growth is linked with its political stability," the premier said, adding that without political stability, even billions of budget could not make a difference in improving the economic situation.

The government, he further said, is cognisant of the problems being faced by the common man due to inflation. 

"We have to take care of the salaried class as well as the pensioners so that they can meet their basic requirements." 

He maintained that for the last 14 months, the government since assumption of power was to deal with the challenge of the IMF, the post-flood situation and global inflation.

Mr Sharif also expressed satisfaction that the current deficit in 10 months was reduced to USD 3.3 billion and hoped that the agriculture sector would boost.

Mr Dar has declared a 3.5 per cent GDP growth target for the next year.

The government has spun into action to put brakes on the "undesirable" outflow of foreign currency from Pakistan and promote transparency in foreign currency transactions conducted by exchange companies.

Washington-based IMF has said it is collaborating with Pakistani authorities to address concerns related to the country's currency market and other matters before resuming the ongoing bailout programme, which is scheduled to conclude this month.

Following a currency devaluation in January, the rupee has depreciated by over 20 per cent this year, rendering it one of the weakest performers globally.

The nation's dollar stockpile has remained stable at about USD 4 billion since late February, after falling more than 50 per cent in the past 12 months.

Funds will be crucial to prop up the economy beset by supply shortages and avert a sovereign default, with billions of dollars of debt payments approaching.

The economic situation has never been so grim in a country which since independence has thrice seen military coups and the ouster of elected governments.

Cash-strapped Pakistan's economy has been in a free fall mode for the last many years, bringing untold pressure on the poor masses in the form of unchecked inflation, making it almost impossible for a vast number of people to make ends meet. Their woes increased manyfold after last year's catastrophic floods that killed more than 1,700 people and caused massive economic losses.

Akash Ambani And Shloka Mehta Reveal The Name Of Their Daughter

Akash Ambani, the elder son of billionaire Mukesh Ambani, and his wife Shloka Mehta embraced parenthood for the second time as they welcomed a baby girl on May 31. The couple has now revealed the name of their daughter. According to a report by India Today, the proud parents named their newborn, Veda Akash Ambani, in an official statement.

Veda is a girl's name of Sanskrit origin and it means "knowledge" or "wisdom". 

The official statement read, "With the grace of Lord Krishna and the blessings of Dhirubhai & Kokilaben Ambani, Prithvi is thrilled to announce the birth of his little baby sister, Veda Akash Ambani." 

The couple had their first child Prithvi Akash Ambani in December 2020.

Notably, Ms. Mehta announced her second pregnancy during the grand opening celebrations of the Nita Mukesh Ambani Cultural Centre (NMACC) in April. At the event, she was seen flaunting her baby bump.

Akash Ambani and Shloka Mehta got married in March 2019 in a glittering ceremony in Mumbai. The couple, who studied together at the school run by the Ambani family, promised to respect and cherish each other as they took their wedding vows.

A host of A-listers - Amitabh Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan, Aamir Khan, Sachin Tendulkar, musician Anu Malik, Rekha, Akshay Kumar, Twinkle Khanna, Shilpa Shetty were among the celebrities on the guest list.

"Noting Suspicious": Cops After Man Arrested Over Bomb Threat At Delhi Airport

Delhi Police on Friday said that the Uttar Pradesh man arrested on the instance of his co-passenger who overheard him saying "bomb" during a telephonic conversation has been served notice and allowed to go after "nothing suspicious" was found on him.

"The male passenger, Azeem Khan has been given a notice and allowed to go as nothing suspicious was found on him. If needed, he will have to join the investigation in future", the police said.

Azeem Khan belonging to Pilibhit who was onboard a Vistara flight to Dubai, was arrested at Indira Gandhi International Airport on Thursday on the basis of a complaint by a woman co-passenger.

The woman had complained to a flight crew member that she heard the man speak of a bomb over the phone. The man was handed over to CISF and then arrested by Delhi Police.

The woman overheard her male passenger telling saying to someone on the phone "CISF removed coconut from my bag fearing it could be a bomb but allowed 'gutkha' that was in my bag".

The incident happened on June 7 but nothing was found after the investigation, the police said.

A senior official informed that the passenger was travelling to Dubai through a connecting flight from Mumbai via Vistara Airlines flight no UK-941 (Delhi to Mumbai), which was scheduled to depart at 4.55 pm.

"The passenger travelling to Dubai for the job was talking to his mother on the phone and the conversation was overheard by a lady co-passenger sitting next to him. He told his mother that CISF not allowed coconut in his bag fearing it could be a bomb but they allowed pan masala that was kept in his bag," said the official.

After hearing the word bomb, the lady co-passenger raised an alarm and the flight crew informed CISF.

The passenger was de-boarded and the woman also de-boarded the plane voluntarily.

The entire plane was thoroughly checked but nothing was found. The lady's co-passenger refused to board the plane and she booked another ticket for Mumbai.

"In the process, the flight was delayed for two hours before it got clearance to take off. The male passenger was handed over to IGI police," the official said.

Hours After Celebrating Son's Birthday, Man Dies In Delhi Accident

Hours before Lakhan was killed after an SUV rammed into their motorbike in southwest Delhi's Dwarka area, he had celebrated the birthday of his son at his house with his sister's family.

The accident took place near the NLU traffic signal on Thursday night when Lakhan (37) was on the way to his sister's home to drop her, her husband and their daughter.

The victims were going towards Sector 17 from Bharat Vihar when the SUV coming from Sector 13 side hit them, DCP (Dwarka) M Harsha Vardhan said.

While Lakhan and his sister Foola (30) were declared dead at the hospital, his 10-year-old niece Diksha succumbed to her injuries on Friday afternoon, Vardhan said.

The accident left Lakhan's brother-in-law, Maate (32), injured, he added.

Maate alias Nanhe Ram, who works as a labourer, told PTI that the offending vehicle came towards their bike at high speed and hit them.

"We had gone to attend the birthday party of Lakhan's son. We insisted that we will hail a rickshaw and return home, but Lakhan said he would drop us as it was quite late," Maate said.

"When we reached near the NLU red light, a speeding car hit us. After the accident, I fell unconscious and later found myself in hospital. I have fractured my left leg and left thumb" he added.

Maate's relative Mulam Rajak said, "Due to his injuries, Maate might not be able to work for a long time. We have not informed him about the demise of the three family members," Rajak said.

Lakhan, who is survived by his wife and two kids, was the sole breadwinner of the family, Rajak said. The victims are originally from Madhya Pradesh's Tikamgarh district.

Lala Ram, another relative of Maate, said the entire family was shocked after the incident, adding that they were taking the bodies to their hometown.

A case was registered at the Dwarka North police station and the accused SUV driver, identified as Abrar (24), a resident of Gopal Nagar in Najafgarh, has been arrested, DCP Vardhan said.

"Ulta Chor Kotwal Ko Daantey...": S Jaishankar's Swipe At Canada

In a befitting reply to Canada National Security Advisor Jody Thomas' remarks on calling India among the top sources of foreign interference in Canada, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar on Thursday used the famous idiom "the pot calling the kettle black" adding that if anybody has to complain, it should be India.

"I was....what shall I say, the phrase which came to my mind was actually a hindi phrase which was..."Ulta chor kotwal ko daantey.." (the pot calling the kettle black).

Responding to a media query, the EAM further said, "If anybody has a complaint... we have a complaint about Canada, You know what I said earlier, the space that they are giving to Khalistanis and to violent extremes. So I was very perplexed by what I heard."

Notably, Canada's NSA Thomas stated that India is among the top sources of foreign interference in Canada.

"When I talk about foreign interference and economic security, I'm now talking about a number of state actors and non-state proxies. This includes Russia, Iran, and India. That said, the actor that comes up most on these issues, and it's no surprise to anybody, is China," Jody Thomas was quoted as saying in Toronto Star.

The Toronto Star is a Canadian English-language broadsheet daily newspaper.

The Canadian NSA gave these remarks at a conference held by the Canadian Global Affairs Institute recently.

This is not the first time that such a remark has come from Canada's side. The country's New Democratic Party (NDP) leaderJagmeet Singh is known for his anti-India comments.

Earlier in March, the Pro-Khalistan Twitter accounts were withheld in India.

The withheld accounts include the Twitter accounts of Canada's New Democratic Party leader Jagmeet Singh. The Twitter accounts of Canadian poet Rupi Kaur, the voluntary organisation United Sikhs and Canada-based activist Gurdeep Singh Sahota were blocked.

CNN Chief Chris Licht, Who Criticised News Coverage Of Trump, Steps Down

Chris Licht, the embattled head of CNN, has stepped down from the news network "effective immediately," Warner Brothers Discovery announced Wednesday as it appointed an interim leadership team.

After joining CNN last year, Chris Licht came under fire for editorial decisions including a recent town hall meeting with former president Donald Trump that was dominated by cheering from supporters and jeering at CNN interviewer Kaitlan Collins.

"I have great respect for Chris, personally and professionally," said David Zaslav, president and CEO of Warner Brothers Discovery.

"The job of leading CNN was never going to be easy, especially at a time of huge disruption and transformation, and he has poured his heart and soul into it," Mr Zaslav said. 

"While we know we have work to do as we look to identify a new leader, we have absolute confidence in the team we have in place and will continue to fight for CNN and its world class journalism."

Mr Licht had sharply criticized CNN's news coverage of Trump under former news chief Jeff Zucker in a recent Atlantic article, but the publication reported uncertainty among CNN journalists on Mr Licht's preferred approach.

The article also characterized Mr Licht as aloof and distrusted among rank-and-file network journalists, who were also critical of his handling of other controversies, such as the firing of former CNN presenter Don Lemon, who had made remarks about women and aging that were seen as sexist.

Under the plan announced Wednesday, CNN will be led on an interim basis by executive vice presidents Amy Entelis, Virginia Moseley, and Eric Sherling, as well as Chief Operating Officer David Leavy.
