Gurugram Woman Dies By Suicide, Blames Credit Card Firm Employee In Note

A 23 year-old-woman, who was working with a private company, allegedly hanged herself in her rented accommodation in Sukhrali village here, police on Thursday said.

In a suicide note recovered from her room, she said a female employee of a credit card firm was responsible for her death.

On Wednesday, police were informed about a probable suicide of a woman in the third floor room of a building in Sukhrali village.

A team from Sector 18 Police Station reached the spot where it found the body of a woman hanging from the window of a room.

The woman was identified as Deepika, a native of Faridabad, said police.

Her mother, Parvati Devi, reached the house when police informed her about the death.

They then forced the door open and retrieved Deepika's body for post mortem.

Police found a one-page suicide note in the room in which Deepika said a woman employed with a credit card firm based out of a local mall was responsible for her taking the step and must be punished, police said.

Following the complaint of her mother, an FIR was registered against the named woman under Section 306 (abatement to suicide) of the IPC at Sector 18 Police Station.

"We handed over the body to the family after the post mortem today. We have got only the name of the accused as per suicide note and are trying to search her. The main cause of suicide is not clear yet and a probe is underway," said Sector 18 Police Station SHO Inspector Haresh Kumar.

ISRO Plans 1st Abort Test Of 'Gaganyaan' Mission's Crew Escape System

ISRO plans to undertake an inflight abort test of the crew escape system by the end of this month using a test vehicle developed as part of the country's ambitious maiden human spaceflight venture Gaganyaan.

"Preparations are going on. All vehicle systems have reached Sriharikota (for the launch). The final assembly is progressing. We are getting ready for launch by the end of October," Director of Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre (VSSC) S Unnikrishnan Nair told PTI on Thursday.

"(With) this crew escape system, we will demonstrate (validate) in different conditions like high dynamic pressure and for transonic conditions," Nair added Thiruvananthapuram-based VSSC is the lead centre of ISRO under the Department of Space.

An ISRO official said the crew escape system (CES) is the most important element in Gaganyaan. According to ISRO officials, this month's launch of the test vehicle TV-D1 would be the first of the four abort missions of the Gaganyaan programme. It would be followed by the second test vehicle TV-D2 mission and first uncrewed mission of Gaganyaan (LVM3-G1).

The second series of test vehicle missions (TV-D3 & D4) and LVM3-G2 mission with robotic payload is planned next. The crewed mission is planned based on the outcome of the successful test vehicle and the missions in which no crew is on board, they said.

The test vehicle is a single-stage rocket, based on liquid propulsion, developed to validate the CES performance at different critical Mach numbers but Nair said it can be used for many purposes including space tourism.

"We are taking (the test vehicle) to transonic conditions. That means crossing the Mach number of one. We will go to something like Mach number of 1.2. That reaches around 12 km altitude. From there, the escape system will be activated, and that will go some 20 km, and from there the crew module will be released," he explained. "This vehicle can be used for space tourism, if any industry is interested. Same vehicle can take a crew module to 100 km and then come back. That's possible. If anybody is interested, this vehicle can be used for that," Nair said.

The Crew Module is habitable with Earth-like environment in space for the crew. It is of double-walled construction consisting of a pressurised metallic inner structure and unpressurised external structure with thermal protection system.

It houses the crew interfaces, human centric products, life support system, avionics and deceleration systems. It is also designed for re-entry to ensure safety of the crew during descent till touchdown.

According to ISRO officials, the Gaganyaan project would demonstrate India's capability of taking a crew of two to three members to a circular orbit of about 400 km around the earth for a one-to-three days mission and bring them back safely to earth, by landing in a designated location in Indian sea waters.

The LVM3 rocket, the heavy lift launcher of ISRO, is identified as the launch vehicle for the Gaganyaan mission. It consists of solid stage, liquid stage and cryogenic stage. All systems in LVM3 are re-configured to meet human rating requirements and christened Human Rated LVM3 (HLVM3).

Nair said the LVM3 cannot be used for conducting tests to validate CES, saying it's an expensive rocket.

What Is A Carrot Tan? Here's Why We Should Eat Carrots Daily

Carrot tan is a term used to describe the orange or tan colour that can develop on the skin when someone consumes excessive amounts of carrots or other foods rich in beta-carotene. Beta-carotene is a pigment found in certain plants, such as carrots, sweet potatoes, and spinach, and it can cause the skin to take on a slightly orange or tan hue when consumed in large quantities.

This condition is harmless and usually temporary, as the excess beta-carotene is typically eliminated from the body through urination. It has resurfaced recently due to a popular social media trend. Keep reading as we discuss some of its benefits.

10 Benefits of consuming carrots daily:

1. Rich in essential vitamins

Carrots are a great source of vitamins such as vitamin A, vitamin C, vitamin K, and vitamin B6. These vitamins are vital for maintaining overall health, boosting the immune system, and promoting proper growth and development.

2. Enhance vision

Carrots are famously known for improving vision due to their high content of beta-carotene, which converts into vitamin A. Vitamin A is essential for good eyesight and helps in preventing various eye-related disorders like cataracts and macular degeneration.

3. Promote cardiovascular health

The high fibre content in carrots helps in reducing cholesterol levels in the body, ultimately benefiting cardiovascular health. Additionally, the antioxidants present in carrots protect the heart from oxidative stress, reducing the risk of heart diseases.

4. Aid in digestion

Carrots are rich in dietary fibre, which aids in maintaining a healthy digestive system. Fibre promotes regular bowel movements, prevents constipation, and keeps the digestive system functioning properly.

5. Boost skin health

The antioxidants present in carrots, such as beta-carotene and vitamin C, help in keeping the skin healthy and radiant. They combat free radicals, reduce signs of ageing, and promote a natural glow.

6. Strengthen the immune system

Carrots are packed with immune-boosting nutrients like vitamin C, which stimulates the production of white blood cells, enhancing the body's defence against infections and diseases.

7. Aid in weight loss

Carrots are low in calories and high in fibre, making them a perfect snack for those aiming to lose weight. The high fibre content keeps you feeling full for longer, reducing unnecessary snacking.

8. Maintain oral health

Chewing raw carrots encourages the production of saliva, which helps in neutralising acids and bacteria in the mouth, preventing cavities and promoting overall oral health.

9. Improve brain function

The high levels of antioxidants and essential nutrients in carrots, such as vitamin A and potassium, contribute to improved cognitive function and memory.

10. Detoxify the body

Carrots contain compounds that aid in the detoxification process, helping to flush out harmful toxins from the body and promote liver health.

In conclusion, incorporating carrots into our diet provides numerous health benefits, ranging from improved vision and heart health to better digestion and skin health. The vitamins, antioxidants, and fibre present in carrots all work together to boost our overall well-being and enhance various bodily functions.

Close Shave For 30 People As Bus Hangs From Bridge In Odisha

It was a close shave for 30 people as their bus hit the guard wall of a bridge over the Mahanadi River in Odisha's Cuttack district on Tuesday, and remained hanging for quite some time before they were rescued, police said. The accident happened on the Jatimundia-Subernapur bridge around 10.30 am when the bus was going to Bhubaneswar from Angul, said Kabuli Barik, the inspector-in-charge of Banki police station.

The driver of the bus Srikant Behera said, "Though I applied the brakes and tried to control the bus, it hit the guard wall of the bridge. The front two wheels of the bus were hanging. People who were travelling in other vehicles stopped to bring out the passengers of the bus." Barik said all the passengers, including the driver, were rescued safely.

"No was severely injured in the accident," he said, adding that the bus was later removed from the bridge.

The bus had left Angul at 7.45 am and was supposed to reach Bhubaneswar at 12 pm.

If the bus had moved any further, it would have fallen off the bridge, resulting in a major mishap, said a local.

INDIA Bloc "Lacks Credibility, No Match" For PM Modi: Devendra Fadnavis

Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Tuesday said the INDIA alliance has credibility and leadership issues and it is no match for Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the BJP.

Addressing a meeting of state BJP functionaries, Mr Fadnavis said the investigation against a news portal has revealed Chinese funding which shows that certain forces want to derail the Modi government's development train.

Earlier in the day, Delhi Police searched 30 locations connected with online news portal NewsClick and its journalists in a case filed under the anti-terror law UAPA on allegations that it received money for pro-China propaganda.

"The opposition grouping led by Congress leader Rahul Gandhi lacks credibility. None of the leaders from the INDIA bloc has a national appeal. They don't have an agenda for development and also lack the vision for the development of the country," Mr Fadnavis said.

He alleged the only agenda of the grouping is to oppose PM Modi because they know they are staring at a bleak future when Prime Minister Modi returns to power for a third term.

The senior BJP leader claimed leaders like Mamata Banerjee (TMC), Akhilesh Yadav (SP), and Tejashwi Yadav (RJD) cannot provide leadership to the opposition bloc.

"There are differences among these leaders which will aggravate further after the elections," he said, adding that the people of the country know very well that the INIDA bloc is no match for Modi.

He said the welfare schemes launched by the Modi government in the last nine years have lifted people out of poverty.

"India is now the fastest growing economy. Earlier, we used to go after other countries but now the other developed countries are coming to us," the former Maharashtra chief minister said.

He said the BJP's fight is not against the INDIA alliance but the forces behind them who want to unleash anarchy in the country.

Mr Fadnavis further said the BJP is an "elder brother" in the tripartite government comprising Shiv Sena and NCP (Ajit Pawar faction).

"As an elder brother, BJP needs to be accommodative and make sacrifices if needed. But we will not deviate from our principles and objectives," he added.

UK Nurses Tied Sikh Man's Beard With Gloves, Left Him In Urine: Report

In a shocking incident of "institutional racism" in the UK, nurses reportedly tied a Sikh patient's beard with plastic gloves, leaving him in his own urine and offering him food he could not eat for religious reasons, according to a media report.

Despite the man complaining about the discrimination in a note on his deathbed, the nurses were allowed to carry on working, The Independent newspaper reported last week, quoting from a dossier leaked to it from the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC), the UK's nursing regulator, which outlines multiple counts of alleged racism against nursing staff and patients.

The council has launched an investigation into the newspaper's revelations.

A senior NMC whistleblower claims that the regulator has failed to address “institutional racism” in its ranks for 15 years, warning this has allowed NMC staff “to go unchecked” when “applying guidance inconsistently based on their own discriminatory views”, the report said.

"Nurses accused of tying a Sikh patient's beard with plastic gloves, leaving him in his own urine and offering him food he couldn't eat for religious reasons were allowed to carry on working despite the man complaining about discrimination in a note on his deathbed," it said.

No other details of the man or the hospital were given in the report.

The whistleblower has urged NMC to address an alleged racial bias in how it treats conduct cases against Black and ethnic minority nurses and patients amid claims of “alarming” racism within the organisation, which was first raised in 2008, the report said.

Spanish Nightclub Hit By Deadly Fire Ordered To Shut In 2022: Deputy Mayor

A Spanish nightclub which was ravaged by fire over the weekend, killing 13 people, had been ordered shut in 2022, the deputy mayor of the southeastern city of Murcia said Monday.

Spain's deadliest nightclub fire in decades broke out early on Sunday in a building housing the Teatre and Fonda Milagros discos on the outskirts of the southeastern city of Murcia.

Murcia city hall had in January 2022 ordered the nightclubs shut since the company that operated them only had a licence for one of them -- the Teatre -- and not for Fonda which was created later, deputy mayor Antonio Navarro told a news conference.

"We are going to determine all responsibilities," he said without explaining why the discos were still operating.

Navarro said an appeal of the shutdown order was rejected in March 2022 and in October 2022 the company was ordered to comply with the ruling which was not respected.

All of the dead were found in the Fonda nightclub.

It is not clear what caused the blaze but officials said it spread quickly through the air conditioning vents of the building that housed the two nightclubs.

Himanta Sarma Cleans Road, Washes Gandhi Statue's Feet On "PM's Call"

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Sunday cleaned a road with a broom and washed the feet of a statue of Mahatma Gandhi during an hour-long 'shramdaan' as part of a nationwide cleanliness drive.

Responding to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's appeal for 'shramdaan' (voluntary labour) for 'Swachhata Hi Seva' campaign a day before Gandhi Jayanti, the CM wielded a broom and cleaned a portion of a road leading to Gandhi Mandap near Ulubari Chariali in Guwahati. Later, he washed the feet of a Mahatama Gandhi statue.

"Bapu's ideals and principles will continue to guide us. On the call by Hon PM Shri @narendramodi Ji, we've an opportunity to script a new chapter in history!" Himanta Sarma wrote on X, formerly Twitter.

"Together, let's envision and work towards a #GarbageFreeIndia," he added.

Himanta Sarma was joined by his cabinet colleague Ashok Singhal, Rajya Sabha MP Pabitra Margherita and senior government officials.

Agriculture Minister Atul Bora carried out the cleanliness drive on the Directorate of Agriculture campus. He appealed to the residents of Assam to take active steps in maintaining cleanliness of their surroundings.

Tejashwi Yadav Ticks Off RJD MLA For Attack On Party MP Manoj Jha

Jumping to the defence of MP Manoj Jha, who has been criticised by his own party MLA as well as the BJP for a poem on 'Thakurs' that he recited in parliament, senior Rashtriya Janata Dal leader Tejashwi Yadav has said that it was a comment on social inequality and not related to any caste.

He has also ticked off the MLA, Chetan Anand, who spoke against Mr Jha, and said that all problems should be brought up in party forums and not in public.

During a discussion on the Women's Reservation Bill - which has now become law - Mr Jha, who is an RJD Rajya Sabha MP, had made a strong, emotional pitch for ensuring that women from SCs, STs and Other Backward Classes (OBCs) get adequate representation in parliament and state legislatures. The Bill, tabled by the BJP during the special session, had a provision for a 'quota within the quota' for SC and ST women, but not for OBCs.

During his speech, Mr Jha read out a poem by Omprakash Valmiki, titled 'Thakur Ka Kuan', which speaks of caste inequality and how the means of production are owned by one group of people.

The poem was, however, interpreted by RJD MLA Chetan Anand and his father - gangster-turned-politician Anand Mohan - as an attack on Thakurs, who are upper-caste Rajputs.

In a post on X, formerly Twitter on Tuesday, Chetan Anand said, "We are Thakurs. We take everyone along. Targeting any caste in socialism is nothing but hypocrisy in the name of socialism! We cannot hear anything wrong that is said about others and we will not tolerate indecent comments made about us (Thakurs)."

Asked about the controversy, Tejashwi Yadav, who is also the Bihar deputy chief minister, said in Hindi that if anyone in the RJD has a problem with something, they should raise it in a party forum and not just tweet about it.

"Manoj Jha is a professor at Delhi University and has also won the 'Best Parliamentarian' award. He was speaking on the Women's Reservation Bill and on ensuring that OBC women and minority women also get proper representation. He recited Omprakash Valmiki's poem in that context. Even today, only a few people are running the country and are selling off its properties," said Mr Yadav.

"Most of the land is also owned by a few people. We are socialists. The recitation of the poem was not aimed at hurting the sentiments of one community but to emphasise the need to ensure equality in society. Now people from the BJP are attacking us. BJP MP Ramesh Bidhuri used communal, objectionable words in parliament but no action has been taken against him," he added.

Mr Yadav said the RJD has more Rajput MLAs and MLCs than the BJP and that his party takes everyone along.

In a reference to some BJP functionaries, the deputy chief minister said, "People are threatening to cut off Mr Jha's tongue and attack him. We would not tolerate anyone from our party saying things like this against the BJP."

RJD chief Lalu Yadav had also defended Mr Jha on Thursday and said that Chetan Anand and his father are stoking the controversy for their personal gain.

"Those people who are making noise about Manoj Jha's statement are trying to galvanise the support of members of their caste. They ought to refrain from doing so," news agency PTI had  quoted Lalu Yadav as saying

On Chetan Anand and his father accusing Mr Jha of "Brahmin chauvinism", the RJD chief had quipped "what to do when they have so little intelligence".

"Congress Abused Entire Backward Community In Name Of Modi": PM's Jibe At Rahul Gandhi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday accused the Congress of seeking to divide women in the name of caste and by spreading lies, as he launched a fierce counter-attack on the party over its demand of OBC sub-quota in women's reservation in legislatures.

Addressing a large crowd to mark the end of the BJP's 'parivartan yatra' in Congress-ruled Chhattisgarh, he invoked his own OBC background to assert that the country's main opposition hates him and has not stopped abusing the backwards, Dalits and tribals despite its leader being sentenced by court, an apparent reference to Rahul Gandhi.

Mr Gandhi was convicted by a Gujarat court for his "Modi surname" remarks. The Supreme Court has stayed the conviction.

A member from a backward community became Prime Minister and that is why the Congress dislikes him so much, as it believes that the chair was "reserved" for it, PM Modi alleged.

"The Congress does not shy from abusing the entire backward community in the name of Modi," he said.

The Prime Minister also made it all but clear that the BJP will not be projecting any chief ministerial candidate in the state, telling party workers that it has only one leader and one candidate which is 'lotus'.

"We have to win over the heart of every voter at booths," he said, asserting that people have decided to get rid of the Congress government mired in "corruption" and "scams" in every scheme.

Turning to the women's reservation law and the opposition's demand for an OBC quota within it, he asked the women to stay united and continue "blessing" him amid attempts to spread lies and divide them in the name of caste.

The Congress, the Prime Minister said, is full of anger and has lost its sleep as it seems to the party that mothers and sisters will bless him for this.

"Due to this fear, they (Congress) are playing new games. They want to sow division among our sisters because they know if you remain united, their game is over," he said.

They are working to divide women in the name of caste and resorting to various tactics, he said.

"I want to tell women of Chhattisgarh that this decision (law) will have an impact for thousands of years. It will empower women in every family... You should not fall for their lies and stay united. You maintain your blessings for me so that Modi can fulfil all your dreams," he said.

PM Modi claimed that opposition parties like the Congress supported the bill in Parliament despite not wanting to do so because of unity and awareness among women.

Only two AIMIM MPs opposed the bill in Lok Sabha and none in Rajya Sabha.

Accusing the Congress of hating the OBCs, Dalits and tribals, he said it opposed the candidature of Ram Nath Kovind, a Dalit, for the president's post and then opposed the ruling party's choice of Droupadi Murmu, who went on the become the first tribal woman to occupy the highest constitutional position.

He asserted that the Congress' opposition to Murmu was not on any ideological ground, as the party and other opposition leaders fielded someone who came from the BJP and not someone who represented their ideology.

Former BJP leader Yashwant Sinha was fielded by opposition parties against Murmu.

It is the old Congress mindset that it cannot see any backward, dalit and tribal person rising, he alleged, adding that it only supports those who bow to a particular family.

For the BJP, social justice is the way to make a developed India, he asserted.

The Congress government in Chhattisgarh has been slow in implementing the Centre's housing and piped water schemes for the poor as it does not like "Modi and Modi's schemes".

As the state government can't get to pocket money from these schemes, they are not keen to implement them, he alleged.
